Pop Up event - BLACK IN FASHION

BLACK IN FASHION will be a Pop-Up event in a shared Atelier of BUKI AKOMOLAFE and EMEKA, presenting the work of premium designers. During the two day event seven German based designers will be showcasing in one space. The BLACK IN FASHION event is a curated event by Fashion Africa Now, BUKI AKOMOLAFE and EMEKA, it is a space to share experiences and voices. We want to amplify our voices, by having short-form artist talks about who we are, what our challenges are, and how we want to shape the fashion landscape. The aim is to create an event of visibility of creative voices while bridging the gap to the European landscape.

BLACK IN FASHION (Germany) was initiated by Fashion Africa Now in 2020 after the global Black Lives Matter protest as an answer to more visibility and connection, among creatives out of Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Tuesday, 2nd of July 2024

On the first day we are having an opening event with artist talks, live DJ, snacks & drinks. Inviting our visitors to connect to a curated experience with all their senses.

Artist Talks will start from 5pm – 7pm. You are invited to be part of the conversation and exchange ideas about how we envision the future of a more inclusive, sustainable and fair fashion.

Opening Pop-Up Shop with artist talks, sounds from DJ Femi, free snacks & drinks.

Wednesday, 3rd of July 2024
On the second day we are continuing the Pop-Up with the five brands, offering the chance for visitors to buy clothing and/or meet and interact with the designers.

The format BLACK IN FASHION is part of STUDIO2RETAIL as part of the BERLIN FASHION WEEK and is supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises in cooperation with the Fashion Council Germany. With the slogan “YOU can be part of Berlin Fashion Week”, STUDIO2RETAIL makes the Fashion Week feeling accessible to EVERYONE.
