GUESS WHAT…? WE MADE A MOVIE! 🎬✨
We are beyond excited to finally share: that our founder Beatrace Oola was the Costume Designer for the feature film BILLIE, produced in Germany/Hamburg by Equality film and directed by the incredible Sheri Hagen. 💥
It’s been a minute since Beatrace last stepped onto a film set, and wow — what a return! This project is truly historic:
🌟 Two Black women in the leading roles, Thelma Babying and Ruby Commey
🌟 A costume department entirely staffed by Afro-Germans
🌟 80% of all looks lead actresses created by designers of African origin
You know her — she begins where invisibility is the norm. Because she knows what needs to be done and by doing so she connects Afro futures. Change is not optional, it’s natural. ✨
This film is a dream 10+ years in the making — and special thanks goes to Sheri, whose persistence brought BILLIE to life at exactly the right time: NOW. 🙌🏾 Sheri has never stopped to believe in her film and we are very proud of her!
